Abia State Government is seeking partnership with the NYSC on the production of kit items.
The Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, presented the partnership proposal when he paid a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, at the Directorate Headquarters of the scheme in Abuja.
He informed his host that the partnership would eventually provide a platform for the training of Corps members in different vocational and entrepreneurial skills, including production of the kits.
Ikpeazu further pledged the readiness of his Government to provide land for the construction of Agro/Industrial skills acquisition centre for the training of interested Corps members in Abia State.
The Governor also requested the NYSC to give entrepreneurs from the state contract for supply of NYSC kits since they have the capacity for the production.
He used the occasion to present some samples of kits produced by Abia Entrepreneurs to the Director-General, and promised to produce in mass if given the opportunity.
Responding, the Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, informed the Governor of the Scheme's willingness to buy into his proposals.
He, however, stressed that the Abia entrepreneurs would need to follow procedures laid down in the procurement laws in order to actualize the partnership.
